The practice of semen retention is becoming incredibly popular, and it’s no surprise why.  Holding onto your sexual energy increases your vitality and produces an incredible sensation.  It’s the secret of success for many successful men such Steve Jobs.

Semen retention is not a new thing.  In fact, it was documented thousands of years ago in Ancient China.  The Taoists, who understood the importance of our energy, wrote down enormous amounts of information about how a man could keep his energy.  This was essential for the Emperors who would have thousands of wives and concubines, and could destroy their health if they didn’t learn to control their seed.

Taoist Teachings on Semen Retention

We are lucky enough that today we have access to the Taoist teachings on preserving one’s semen through sexual transmutation.  These teachings were well preserved; handed down from Master to Master over thousands of years, and I was lucky enough to learn from the Grandmaster Mantak Chia.  More importantly, they give a precise formula for how to do it.

One of the first misunderstandings about semen retention is that it’s just about the physical nutrients that are lost through male ejaculation.  Of course, these nutrients are important and it takes time and energy for the body to rejuvenate.  However, the Taoists observed that there was something much more important, and that was an energy that they describe as jing.

Jing energy, also called essence or even life force, is literally what makes us.  It manifests in our DNA, but also when we feel horny, this is a manifestation of jing.  Sexual and fertility problems are usually caused by the jing becoming weak, as is ageing.  Taoists wanted at any cost to preserve their energy and live long and healthy lives, so saving their seed was essential.

Now, let’s take a look at some of the common myths being propagated about semen retention.  These misinformations are causing physical harm to health as well as failure and frustration.  Semen retention can be practices easily and enjoyably if you get it right.

Women are the enemy when it comes to semen retention

Semen retention has nothing to do with misogyny.  In fact, if you are feeling antagonistic towards women, it’s important that you work on the underlying emotions.  Connections with females is essential because they balance male sexual energy.  This is the law of yin and yang.

It’s all about self-control:

Semen Retention is about creating a relationship with your body.  As long as you are reducing how much you ejaculate, you will gain energy.  Take it in it’s time and it’s better to transform a little energy and get the benefits rather than repressing the energy.  If you force it, you can cause harm and will likely just get frustrated.

It’s done by squeezing your perineum:

Clenching on your perineum to stop yourself cumming is harmful to the pelvic floor and prostate.  It can lead to long-term health problems including premature ejaculation. Effective semen retention is about transmuting the energy; in other words, sexual alchemy.

If you have read much of the popular information about semen retention, you may be surprised to hear these things.  As well as studying with Master Chia, I have helped hundreds of men personally transform their ejaculations into full body orgasms.  I also know many men who achieved a high level of retention and have learned from them.  I have also advised many men who harmed themselves because they repressed and tried to force their energy rather than transmute it.

It’s all about creating a relationship with your own body.

Don’t force it.  Rather, become aware of the energy in your body and start to open the meridians that channel the sexual energy up.

The urge to ejaculate happens because the main channel up your body is blocked.

It travels from your prostate through your heart and into your pineal gland.  You need to gently ease the energy up your body; forcing with physical contractions when the energy is still blocked is harmful.

Getting in a relationship with your emotions is key.

That’s because the blockages to your meridians are caused by repressed emotions.  You need to feel your emotions and accept and feel them; then let them go.  It’s painful but it’s OK.  You can do it.  Repressing emotions while practicing semen retention is harmful and causes the practice to fail.  You just have to go onto Instagram and search #nofap and you will be inundated with misogynistic posts from young men with extremely negative outlooks on life who are going nowhere.

Love is the key.

By this I mean that having a healthy electromagnetic field to your heart will create a magnet that opens the meridian and pulls the energy up.  It’s absolutely important that you practice from a sense of self-love and love for all that is around you.  Sexual energy is neutral but it’s an amplifier of energy, so when you retain, it’s essential to make sure that what you are amplifying is good.  Love is an energy that will always transform and heal.  You can grow self love and keep your heart healthy by smiling to your heart and sending love there.

Your Breath is everything.

In order to effectively practice, you need to breathe properly.  It’s good to lie down on your back and practice relaxing into natural and slow belly breathing.  If you can’t relax into breathing, you will go nowhere with this.

Use your mind (and gentle muscular pulsing) to move the energy up.

When you get the horny feeling, relax, breathe, and smile to your heart.  Feel the energy in the perinuem (also known as the root chakra, hui yin, or million dollar point) and very gently pulse the muscles in the perineum, rather like a goldfish kissing.  This is an energetic exercise, the pulsing is just supporting your intention to move the energy.  Inhale, inviting the energy up while smiling to your heart and feeling the love as the energy transforms.

It’s good to keep female company.

Semen retention is a practice that can lead to a huge build up of volatile masculine energy, and this can lead to a tendency towards instability and negativity.  You can retain your energy in a relationship, but if you are not, keep up positive connections with women.  Their yin energy will balance your yang, keeping you healthy and balanced.

The energy can be used to activate your pineal gland.

In other words, as well as being about health, it has spiritual aspects to it too.  Once your heart is fully expanded and full of love, you can help the energy up to your pineal gland to experience altered states of consciousness.

Sexual energy is a multi-purpose energy you can use for anything.

It’s literally a superfood for the soul.  After healing your body and optimising your (self) love energy in your heart, you can channel it into creativity, business, sports or anything you like.

You can self-pleasure (or make love) to transmute the energy.

Rather than avoiding genital contact, you can meditate with the energy, lying down, breathing and smiling to your heart.  You then can stimulate the energy, either manually, mentally, or both; and invite it up.  A bit of edging can be helpful too.
